When the Virginia races are over this year I hope we have a good stockpile of footage of E.W. Jackson. Why?
If we don’t, I doubt anyone will believe in 20 years time that a party really nominated him for anything.
Here is the latest from the GOP nominee for Lt. Governor. According to E.W.:
“Any time you say, ‘There is no other means of salvation but through Jesus Christ, and if you don’t know him and you don’t follow him and you don’t go through him, you are engaged in some sort of false religion,’ that’s controversial. But it’s the truth.”
I am sure the Old Dominion’s Jewish, Muslim, and other non-Christian faiths feel really great about that. Wonder what other pearls of wisdom we will get from E.W. as the campaign hits the home stretch.
While this man is a lunatic he does create a real problem for Virginia Republicans. They simply can’t disown him because the guy was chosen by the party faithful.
The people in the Richmond Coliseum who voted for Jackson to be their nominee are the base of the party. They are the ones who knock on doors, make phone calls, work the polls on election day.
If the state party is too mean to Jackson they do risk alienating the activists in an election where base turnout will be key. I am sure if they could have gotten rid of E.W. by now they would have done it in a heart beat.
So it looks like everyone is stuck with Mr. Jackson for a few more weeks.
