It’s been said that quitters never win and winners never quit. Apparently Rand Paul knows which side of that divide he is likely to be on when it comes to the fight over defunding Obamacare.
Meeting with Michigan Republicans Paul appeared to throw in the towel on the battle over the law:
“we probably can’t defeat or get rid of Obamacare. Working from the position of not funding the health care law might help render it less bad.”
Thanks for that statement of the obvious. It seems that Paul is trying to distance himself from Cruz and Mike Lee if, and when, there efforts to defund the law over the next few days fails.
Paul already has his anti-Obamacare bona fides so he doesn’t need to follow Cruz down the path of being blamed for causing a government shut down.
