House Rules Committee Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX) is going to get a primary challenge. Katrina Pierson of the Dallas Tea Party will try to remove Sessions in 2014. Upon launching her campaign, Pierson fired this barrage at Sessions:
“Politicians who have been in Washington far too long — who once had the appearance of stellar voting records — have rapidly sacrificed their principles in the name of political expediency.”
Looking at Session’s ratings it is hard to see why someone would say the guy is not conservative. He scores either 100’s or 90’s from groups like Heritage Action, Concerned Women for America, and the American Conservative Union.
That does not seem to be enough for some people to support Sessions. After her announcement, Pierson picked up the endorsement of panda sex video makers FreedomWorks.
One must wonder what Senator Rafi Cruz will do? Will he endorse Sessions? He has refused to endorse his U.S. Senate colleague John Cornyn. Will same principal hold with Sessions? What if Cruz throws his support behind Pierson? Aside from pissing off the House leadership and NRCC, what benefit would that get Cruz?
Guess these and many other questions will be answered soon enough.
