The only question left to be answered is can Bill de Blasio hit 40% today. If he does that there will not be a run off. That makes it all but certain he will be elected New York City’s next mayor November. If there is a run off things could be bumpy for De Blasio.
In a run off his former opponents might endorse whoever comes second and it would be two more weeks of getting him with negative attacks. And you never know what can happen in a shortened campaign. So the faster De Blasio can wrap this up the better.
What are the larger lessons of this race? After the results come in that’s when we’ll get into that. As you can imagine I have a few thoughts about that.
