It looks like Governor Christie is making a play to win even bigger by highlighting his support from Democrats. This report from WNYC goes into a detail about the rise of the so-called “Christie-Crats”:
No one doubts Christie will win big in the fall. But is this the right message he wants to be sending? Some in the GOP are already skeptical of him following Sandy and his work with Obama. Touting this only reminds them of it. Shouldn’t Christie be using the opportunity his will create to start pushing for a more conservative approach in New Jersey?
By running as Mr. Bipartisan that opportunity could be slipping away. It does seems kind of hard to run as everybody’s favorite and then be able to push through a conservative agenda when Christie gets re-elected. Of course, that may not be a problem if Christie isn’t interested in pushing for that agenda.
